About This Lodge

Little Governors’ Camp is an intimate, unfenced safari property set within the Masai Mara National Reserve. Its distinction lies in its secluded location, accessible only by a short boat crossing and an escorted walk. This unique approach ensures the camp is quiet, undisturbed, and free of vehicle traffic.

Tucked around a natural waterhole and marsh, the camp provides a high level of privacy and an authentic connection to the wild. It is a place where classic safari luxury meets genuine wilderness, offering consistent service with a strong focus on conservation.

Location & Setting

The camp is situated on the bank of an old oxbow lake of the Mara River, in the heart of the game-rich Mara Triangle. The location is naturally shielded, and the unique arrival process, a boat ride across the river followed by a guided walk, immediately immerses guests in the environment.

As the camp is unfenced, wildlife wanders freely, including resident warthogs and elephants that frequently visit the marsh directly in front of the tents. Its central position makes it an excellent base for game viewing in the surrounding reserve.

Accommodation

The camp features 17 luxury tents with en-suite facilities. Built on raised wooden decks, each tent has a spacious, covered veranda. The interiors are classic in design, featuring polished wood floors and simple, comfortable furnishings.

Each tent is positioned to offer a direct view of the marsh, allowing for constant wildlife viewing. All rooms are provided with hot water bottles at night, ensuring warmth and comfort under the canvas.

Facilities & Experiences

The central areas consist of an open-sided dining tent, a bar, and a lounge where a log fire is lit nightly. Meals are frequently served al fresco to take advantage of the quiet setting.

The camp maintains a dedicated team of guides and a customized fleet of vehicles to ensure quality game drives in the reserve. The ambiance is warm and personal, fostering a close-knit atmosphere among guests and staff.
