About This Lodge

Ilora Retreats Masai Mara offers a sophisticated, wellness-focused sanctuary within the central Olkiombo area of the Reserve. Named after the concept of ‘rain and sunshine,’ Ilora’s philosophy centers on the balance and rhythm of the ‘circle of life’ in the savannah. The camp is positioned as an intimate and personal escape for the discerning traveler.

The atmosphere is one of barefoot comfort and refined elegance, designed to immerse guests in the raw beauty of the outdoors without sacrificing comfort. It is a rejuvenating base for travelers who seek both thrilling wildlife encounters and a restorative connection to nature, successfully merging conservation ethics with attentive hospitality and a steady sense of place.

Location & Setting

The retreat is strategically located in the Olkiombo section of the Masai Mara National Reserve, a key zone for high-density game viewing. It lies within easy reach of the Mara River and the primary crossing points for the Great Migration.

The camp occupies a generous 30-acre property, with a significant portion of the surrounding land intentionally maintained as natural forest, allowing for a secluded experience. This central placement ensures convenient access to diverse wildlife circuits while offering panoramic, uninterrupted views of the open plains.

Accommodation

Ilora Retreats features 14 expansive luxury tents set on raised wooden platforms. Each tent provides over 600 square feet of private space, making them some of the largest in the Mara. The interiors showcase a rustic yet modern design, using natural stone, wood, and woven textures. Signature features include en-suite bathrooms with multi-jet showers and deep bathtubs that offer direct views over the surrounding bush.

This generous layout, combined with high-end comforts, ensures a private sanctuary with uninterrupted panoramic views after a day of exploration. Complimentary drinks, private Wi-Fi routers, and a dedicated veranda enhance the sense of seclusion.

Facilities & Experiences

The shared life of the camp includes multiple unique dining settings, from a twilight poolside dinner to gourmet meals served in the semi-open dining tent. Evenings can be spent at Bush Flix, an open-air cinema under the African sky, or sharing quiet moments on the Sky Deck for private dining.

For wellness, the camp maintains an electricity-free gym and a spa utilizing organic, locally sourced products. Families are catered to through the Jungle Juniors program and a dedicated Photo Lounge, fostering a communal yet unhurried environment.

Our Sustainability & Community Impact

The camp operates a specialized facility that converts organic kitchen waste directly into clean cooking gas. To maintain its minimal footprint, 95% of the retreat’s 30-acre plot has been intentionally preserved as natural, undisturbed forest. Water conservation is achieved by recycling toilet flush water for secondary uses and running a reverse osmosis plant that provides purified water in refillable glass bottles, entirely eliminating the need for commercial plastics.
