About This Lodge

Sentrim Amboseli offers a comfortable and accessible base for exploring the Amboseli ecosystem. Positioned right on the border of the national park, the camp combines the classic feel of a tented safari with the reliability of permanent structures. The atmosphere here is relaxed and family-oriented, providing a welcome respite from the dust and heat of the arid plains.

Guests are treated to a setting that balances the rugged wilderness with manicured gardens, all framed by the towering presence of Mount Kilimanjaro on clear days. It serves as a practical and value-driven choice for travellers who want to be minutes away from wildlife viewing without sacrificing modern conveniences.

Location & Setting

The property is located just a few kilometers from the Kimana Gate, one of the primary entry points into Amboseli National Park. This strategic position allows for quick access to the reserve, meaning guests can view elephants within minutes of leaving the camp.

The terrain surrounding the lodge is typical of the region: dry, open scrubland dotted with acacia trees. However, the lodge grounds themselves function as a lush oasis. The layout maximises views of the mountain, with the main areas oriented to capture the peak when the cloud cover breaks.

Accommodation

Sentrim Amboseli comprises 60 units, primarily consisting of deluxe tents raised on concrete slabs. The design creates a hybrid experience; canvas walls provide the auditory connection to the wild, while solid roofs and stone bathrooms offer security and insulation. Each unit features a private veranda where guests can sit and take in the surrounding landscape.

The interiors are spacious, equipped with a writing desk, ample storage, and comfortable bedding protected by mosquito nets. Family houses are also available, offering two bedrooms and a living area, making them distinct from the standard tented layout. The rooms are spaced out to ensure a sense of privacy, connected by paved pathways that wind through the gardens.

Facilities & Experiences

The central hub of the lodge features a large open-air restaurant and bar area that encourages social interaction. The swimming pool is a focal point during the heat of the day, complete with a jacuzzi section and sun loungers shaded by umbrellas.

A massage parlour offers treatments designed to soothe muscles after long periods in a safari vehicle. The dining experience features buffet-style meals that cater to diverse palates, served in an open space that is open to the breeze. Evenings are often spent in the lounge or by the fire, where the service team ensures a welcoming and homely vibe.

Our Sustainability & Community Impact

The lodge focuses on empowering local women through a dedicated beadwork cooperative initiative. Rather than just selling souvenirs, this program provides a direct marketplace for Maasai women to trade their intricate artisanal work at fair prices, ensuring the revenue supports their households directly. Additionally, the camp maintains a strict indigenous tree-planting schedule within its grounds to combat soil erosion and create a micro-habitat for local bird species.
