About This Lodge

Ol Moran Tented Camp offers a classic, value-focused safari experience with a deep connection to local Maasai culture. Positioned directly in the Mara ecosystem, it prioritizes an authentic, close-to-the-wild stay.

The atmosphere is personal and welcoming, built on over two decades of consistent Kenyan hospitality. It is a grounded retreat that allows guests to easily access the Mara’s vast plains while enjoying the sights and sounds of the Ololaimutia River.

Location & Setting

The camp is situated within the Maasai Mara ecosystem, set on the banks of the river. This river is a reliable watering spot, naturally drawing elephants, buffalo, and various antelopes close to the camp area.

It is located approximately two kilometres from the Ololaimutia Gate, offering convenient access to the main reserve. Accessibility is possible by road from Nairobi, typically a four to five-hour drive, or a short transfer from the Keekorok Airstrip.

Accommodation

Ol Moran Tented Camp features 19 spacious, traditional safari tents, comprising both standard and deluxe options. The interior design is functional and comfortable, using canvas and natural materials. Each tent is thoughtfully designed for privacy and space, with comfortable beds covered by mosquito nets.

All tents are self-contained, offering modern en-suite bathrooms with flush toilets and hot showers. Guests can unwind on a private veranda, which serves as a quiet, personal space to view the surrounding African plains.

Facilities & Experiences

The camp’s central gathering point combines the dining tent, lounge, and bar into a communal clubhouse. The restaurant serves freshly prepared buffet-style meals in a friendly setting. A key camp feature is the nightly open campfire, where guests gather under the stars to share their daily safari experiences.

The attentive staff provides warm African hospitality, creating a relaxed and homely atmosphere throughout the stay.
