About This Lodge

Ashnil Mara Camp delivers a classic tented experience set in the heart of Kenya’s iconic Masai Mara National Reserve. Located at the confluence of the Mara and Olkeju Rivers, the camp is perfectly positioned for consistent, high-impact wildlife viewing.

This setting provides a front-row seat to the natural rhythm of the area, most notably the annual Great Migration river crossings. The atmosphere is grounded, combining the comfort of a luxury tent with the raw, immersive feel of the wilderness.

Location & Setting

The camp is located deep within the Reserve, resting directly on the eastern bank of the Mara River.

This critical riverine setting ensures year-round wildlife activity and is a key vantage point for observing the dramatic crossing points. Access is typically via a 45-minute flight from Nairobi to a nearby airstrip, followed by a short road transfer into camp.

Accommodation

Ashnil Mara features 50 spacious luxury tents, each set on a private wooden deck that faces the river or open plains. Interiors use canvas and simple wooden floors for classic safari comfort.

Each tent includes an en suite bathroom with a hot shower and a walk-in closet. The experience emphasizes the sensory: guests enjoy the soft sounds of the wilderness carried in by natural ventilation, creating an authentic backdrop for the stay.

Facilities & Experiences

Communal life centers on open-air areas that maximize the river views. The main dining area, situated under a traditional thatched roof, provides a clear overlook where guests eat while observing resident hippos and crocodiles.

A swimming pool offers midday relief with views of the savannah. The service style is warm and attentive, ensuring a relaxed environment where the daily wildlife spectacle remains the main point of focus.

This commitment supports the integrity of the ecosystem that attracts the annual migration.
