About This Lodge

Tipilikwani Mara Camp offers a comfortable safari experience, characterised by its prime riverbank location. The style is classic and relaxed, favouring earth tones and natural finishes. The twenty spacious tents are spread along the Talek River, allowing privacy and open views across the plains of the Masai Mara.

The atmosphere strikes a balance between quiet retreat and easy access to wildlife action, especially during seasonal migrations. The camp serves as a solid base for deep exploration of the Reserve, combining authentic Maasai hospitality with attentive service.

Location & Setting

The camp is set on the eastern bank of the river, marking a natural boundary with the wider Masai Mara National Reserve. This positioning allows for direct observation of river life, including resident hippos and crocodiles, from the main areas and private verandas.

Access is convenient, typically a short drive from Olkiombo Airstrip after a flight from Nairobi. The camp overlooks open savannah dotted with acacia woodlands, giving guests a front-row seat to the daily rhythm of the Mara ecosystem.

Accommodation

Tipilikwani has twenty spacious tented rooms mounted on raised wooden decks. Each tent is furnished simply in an African style, combining light wooden furniture with rich, earthy-toned décor. The focus is on comfort and space, with king or twin queen-sized beds and a private veranda for quiet moments.

All tents offer en-suite facilities with hot water showers. The family tents are a highlight, designed with two inter-connecting rooms and the added luxury of a stand-alone bathtub.

Facilities & Experiences

The main lodge area is a collection of open-sided, thatched structures designed to keep guests connected to the views. This space includes a relaxed lounge, an inviting bar, and a dining terrace that faces the plains.

Meals are served as multi-course affairs, often enjoyed under the stars or as bush meals out in the wilderness. Guests can refresh at the large swimming pool set within lush grounds during the heat of the day. Evenings centre around the fire boma, where stories of the day are shared. For added comfort, the camp provides Wi-Fi in the main areas and offers in-room massages.

The architectural design uses simple materials and structures that blend naturally into the riverbank environment.
